Jaideep Gokale, Communication Director, Tetra Pak, Monisha Narke, Founder RUR, and Vinay Adhye, Vice President, Reliance Retail Ltd were at 94.3 Radio One, on April 10 2017 to discuss their idea behind our initiative Cartons Le Aao, Classroom Banao.
Our mainman Hrishikesh Kannan (Hrishi.K) got into a fun & informative discussion on the food packaging we’re all familiar with with, but don’t know enough positives of!
With RJ Hrishi K they discussed how they’re motivating communities to recognise the environmental relevance of the method of packaging, and how making recycling a daily habit is the key factor in the success of this endeavour.
Cartons Le Aao, Classroom Banao is going big, and Mumbai Dabbawalas joined us in the programme. About 50,000 dabbawalas reached out to 1 lakh homes in Mumbai, telling them about the campaign and asking them to deposit theirs at the collection centres near them. The dabbawala also handed them a Tetra Pak juice carton, to remind them their duty as a consumer and as a responsible citizen.
The same cartons were collected from the homes couple of days later, washed, and flattened by the these people, and about 1 lakh cartons were deposited at the carton collection centres: Sahakari Bhandar | Reliance Fresh | Reliance Smart. The dabbawalas covered a number of areas of the city, right from Virar, to Nalasupara, to Andheri, Bandra, Dadar, Colaba, etc.
Mumbai Dabbawala take immense pride to be a part of this initiative and help build the much needed classrooms for thousands of lesser privileged kids.
It’s your time to do the bit now! Cartons Le Aao, Classroom Banao.
